felistas' story

Felistas is an orphan. She and her 55-year-old grandmother live alone in Ngangarithi township in Nyeri. She really admires her grandmother, because she is generous with what she has, laughs a lot, and has a strong faith in God.

Their home has running water, but they cook on an open fire. Felistas wants to be a banker in America and to use the money she earns to help other orphan children. Before GTL sponsored her, she was being sent home every term for non-payment of fees. She likes school very much, especially Chemistry, Math and Business Studies. She gets up at 3:50 a.m. every morning to study. When she is not studying, she likes to talk with her friends.

She loves going to church, and she was very interested in the outcome of the U.S. presidential elections. She says, “I hope God will help me excel in my education and through my whole life.”
