The Joy in Christ Church (Abington, MA) Sunday School students planted seeds to raise bird house gourds. They will paint the gourds and sell them in the Fall to raise money for K4K!
March 2009
Junior Troop 10393 from Amenia, New York raised $100 selling cookies and hosted an awareness evening on Kenya.
News article, Millerton News, Thursday, April 2, 2009: International potluck serves up all sorts of different cultures by Cory Allen, staff reporter Variety was the key word last Thursday evening, March 26, as Webutuck Elementary School hosted its eighth annual International Potluck Dinner. "We want to celebrate the different backgrounds of students and and have an event where everyone is welcome," said Monica Baker-Bozik, ESL teacher at the school.
Art classes had created works based on art from the Cuna Indians (off the coast of Panama) and the Hulchol Indians (of Mexico). Crafts tables offered different activities, including making Guatemalan worry dolls.
Girl Scout Troop 10393 of Amenia also attended. The troop set up a table to raise awareness about Kenyan students. Kenyan girls stop going to school after middle school, and the Girl Scouts are working to try to change that.
